TRC is headquartered in Ellington, Connecticut, was founded in 1991, and serves financial institutions of all sizes located throughout the United States. Jim Phillips, founder and president, has been exclusively involved in the wealth management field for more than forty years in both community and statewide institutions. Most recent to founding TRC, he was the senior officer in charge of the Financial Management Services division of People’s United Bank (Bridgeport, Connecticut) where he was responsible for the establishment of that bank’s successful trust department. His responsibilities included accountability for the establishment and ongoing administration of the wealth management division, as well as the insurance and retirement services divisions, and discount brokerage subsidiary. He voluntarily left that position in 1991 to found TRC, recognizing the unbiased assistance institutions seek as they strategically address issues relative to wealth management services.

During a recent three-year period, in addition to TRC involvement, Mr. Phillips was under contract with a community-based bank for the purpose of establishing its new trust department and coordinating third-party brokerage services. He notes that this three-year “hands-on” period was very valuable to TRC clients, as it provided him with the opportunity to “sit in the driver’s seat” once again and update select services offered by TRC.
